Death row inmate Christa Pike is unconscious and on a ventilator in hospital after her failed execution in Tennessee, her lawyers have said.
The Tennessee woman's legal team says doctors are working to clear doses of the drug pentobarbital from her system.
Christa Pike "remains critically ill" and is receiving medical care after a botched execution attempt in Tennessee, her attorneys said.
As of Thursday night, Pike remained critically ill and is being treated at a hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.
Christa Pike, 50, was sentenced to death after being convicted of the 1995 murder of 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer.
Christa Pike, the woman who survived an execution attempt in Tennessee earlier this week, is on a ventilator as she receives care in the hospital, her lawyers said in a new statement Friday.
Her condition raises questions about whether Tennessee could attempt to execute her again if she is incapable of understanding what is happening.
