US Open champion Zverev gives Germany Davis Cup lead

Alexander Zverev gave Germany a 1-0 lead in their Davis Cup qualfier against Croatia when he beat Matej Dodig 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) on Saturday, less than a week after his US Open title. World number two Zverev won on his first match point in Halle in 1 hour 47 minutes against the 171st-ranked Dodig.
