Van Aert wins shortened Spanish Vuelta stage amid extreme heat, Mas keeps overall lead‎

Wout van Aert pulled away to win the Spanish Vuelta 15th stage that was shortened because of extreme temperatures in southern Spain. Enric Mas safely held on Sunday to his overall lead entering the final week of the Grand Tour. The temperature neared 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) when Van Aert crossed the finish line in a stage shortened from 189 kilometers to 110 kilometers (117 miles to 68 miles) because of the heat.
