US President Donald Trump said Wednesday he was launching a major new campaign to target Iran's economy, threatening "tremendous" punishment on any country that helps or does business with the Islamic republic.
It comes after a 60-day ceasefire expired on Monday, with no sign of a diplomatic or military off-ramp to the conflict.
The president did not specify what actions he would take, and he has on other occasions abandoned threats to dramatically escalate the war with Iran.
Trump declared "economic warfare" against Iran, warning that any nation or business providing a financial lifeline to the regime will face severe, unprecedented sanctions.
