A French appeals court has cleared the way for Marine Le Pen to run in the 2027 presidential election - but with an electronic tag.
Born in 1968, Le Pen was just four years old when her father Jean-Marie co-founded the National Front (FN), France's main postwar far-right movement.
Her announcement followed a court ruling that meant she would have to wear an electronic tag while campaigning.
Le Pen is now eligible to run in the forthcoming election, but would have to do so wearing an electronic tag, something she has previously ruled out.
