Tata factory making iPhone backplates in India won't be shut down due to pollution‎

A factory supplying iPhone parts in India won't be shut down after all. The plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu was under investigation by the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) since December 2025, after farmers near the facility complained about factory wastewater contaminating their land and wells. The TNPCB warned of a possible forced shutdown of the facility. The factory is owned by Indian conglomerate Tata and manufactures iPhone backplates.
