South Korea got their World Cup campaign off to a winning start by beating the Czech Republic 2-1 Thursday after finally converting some of the many chances they created.South Korea face co-hosts Mexico, who beat South Africa 2-0 in the tournament's opening Group A game earlier Thursday, on June 18.
Second-half goals by Oh Hyeon-gyu and Hwang In-beom steered South Korea to a win over Czechia in a Group A encounter.
South Korea fought back for a deserved 2-1 victory in their World Cup opener against the Czech Republic on Thursday. They were the better team throughout the game, forcing Czech keeper Matej Kovar into several big saves, but fell behind in the 59th minute.
Mexico has taken an early lead in Group A with its win over South Africa. One of these teams will try to win and move into a tie for first on the first day of the World Cup.
