The Justice Department announced the $1.7 billion fund as part of a settlement of a civil lawsuit President Trump brought against the IRS.
A U.S. judge temporarily blocked the Justice Department from “taking any further action pursuant to the creation or operation" of a $1.778 billion "Anti-Weaponization Fund."
In a two-page order on Friday, the judge barred the justice department from taking any steps to stand up or operate the fund.
The nearly $1.8bn fund stemmed from a recent IRS settlement with Donald Trump over his leaked tax records.
