Memphis Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke has died at the age of 29, his sports agency has confirmed. “We are beyond devastated by the passing of Brandon Clarke,” Priority Sports said. Clarke had a standout college career with San Jose State and Gonzaga before he was picked by the Grizzles with the 21st overall selection of the 2019 draft.

Neither the Grizzlies nor Clarke's agency, Priority Sports, immediately provided any details about when, where or how Clarke died. Clarke was arrested April 1 in Arkansas for speeding and possession of a controlled substance that was reportedly kratom, an herbal supplement promoted as an alternative pain remedy that is legal to possess in Tennessee.
"Brandon was an outstanding teammate and an even better person whose impact on the organization and the great Memphis community will not be forgotten," the team said.

Brandon Clarke played in just two games with the Grizzlies this season.
