Donald Trump has encouraged Iran to skip the 2026 World Cup, saying that team members and officials may have their "life and safety" at risk.
President Donald Trump suggested Thursday that he cannot guarantee the security of Iran's soccer team if it travels to the United States to compete in the World Cup later this year."The Iran National Soccer Team is welcome to The World Cup, but I really don’t believe it is appropriate that they be there, for their own life and safety," he wrote on Truth Social.
