His breakout role came in 2006 as the handsome Dr. Mark Sloan, nicknamed McSteamy, the head of plastic surgery at a Seattle hospital. He died 10 months after announcing his A.L.S. diagnosis.
Eric Dane, best known for his role in “Grey’s Anatomy,” has died at 53 years old. It comes after he publicly announced he was fighting Lou Gehrig’s Disease, or ALS, which causes progressive muscle paralysis and has no cure. NBC’s Joe Fryer shares a look back at his remarkable life and career.
