Actor Eric Dane, best known for his starring role in the long-running ABC medical drama "Grey's Anatomy," has died at 53.
For 15 years, Dane played a plastic surgeon nicknamed "McSteamy" by female characters. He also starred in the series Euphoria, and said after the diagnosis he would still return to the set.
Eric Dane, known for his roles as Dr. Mark Sloan on “Grey’s Anatomy” and on HBO’s “Euphoria,” died at 53, according to his family. His passing follows his public disclosure of an ALS diagnosis nearly a year ago.
In April 2025, Eric Dane announced he had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS.
