Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the most prominent son of the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, has been killed in an attack carried out by four assailants, according to Saudi-owned publication Al Arabiya.
While Saif al-Islam is well-known in the North African country, especially for his role in shaping policy before 2011, his public profile has receded in recent years.
Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, son of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, has been killed in Libya, Al Jazeera Arabic reports.
The 53-year-old, who was once widely seen as the second most powerful person in Libya, was killed on Tuesday according to Libyan media.
Saif al-Islam Gaddafi had been considered the number two in Libya before the 2011 death of his father, Muammar Gaddafi.
