Sony and TCL announce joint venture, Bravia TVs part of deal‎

Seemingly out of nowhere, TCL announced it plans to acquire Sony’s home entertainment branch, including TVs and home audio equipment. The two companies are set to enter a joint venture, with TCL controlling a commanding 51% share. As per the press release, the TCL-led venture will “leverage Sony's high-quality picture and audio technology, brand value and operational expertise” combined with “TCL's advanced display technology, global scale advantages, industrial footprint, end-to-end cost efficiency”.
