The move comes days after President Donald Trump said that he was ordering a blockade of sanctioned oil tankers entering and leaving Venezuela.
The Coast Guard also seized an oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela Saturday.
If caught and seized, it would be the third Venezuelan tanker taken by the U.S. this month.
