A US judge on Wednesday ended the long-running case accusing Donald Trump and his allies of trying to overturn the 2020 election -- bringing the curtain down on the final criminal prosecution still shadowing the president's return to power.
A Georgia court on Wednesday dropped the state's election interference case against President Trump and his allies after the local prosecutor who took over the case said he would no longer pursue the charges. CBS News justice correspondent Scott MacFarlane has more.
Georgia 2020 election interference case dropped
Georgia's citizens are "not served by pursuing this case," the prosecutor said.
The state charges were the last remaining criminal case against the US president stemming from the 2020 election.
The Fulton County election interference case against President Trump and others has been dismissed after the prosecutor who took over the case asked that it be dropped.
The president has now seen three criminal cases against him dissolve since he was re-elected last year.
A judge in the southern state of Georgia rules that the case against Trump 'is hereby dismissed in its entirety'.
